Rosalind Franklin House
What is the Rosalind Franklin Program? Rosalind Franklin House is a unique living and learning community for first and second year female students who plan on pursuing majors in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. These groups of first-year students enjoy the benefits of sharing common residential and academic experiences while making new friends, exploring common interests and being a part of a close community of peers. This living-learning community creates purposeful links among the academic, residential, and social elements of the undergraduate experience during the first and second years. Rosalind Franklin house is located in Winkler Hall on the Busch Campus, which is also home to departments in the life sciences, chemistry, physics, geological sciences, mathematics, pharmacy, and engineering. This is a one credit pass/no credit course designed to expose students to different careers in the sciences. It is a ten week course that meets once a week, taught by an upperclassmen who is an expert on the subject. In addition, the FIG provides resources for transition to college setting by providing information on health and wellness, academic services and much more! Where will I live? Students accepted into the program will live in Winkler Suites on Busch Campus. Winkler Hall is a residence traditionally for upperclassmen. It is a 4-story building with an elevator. Six people share one suite. Rooms are carpeted; and have computer access and provide cable tv. In addition each suite has its own bathroom and living room. The building offers a spacious main lounge and kitchen on the first floor. There are lounges on every floor with laundry facilities. Close to Winkler hall are the Busch Campus Center, Busch Dining Hall, Pual Robeson Cultural Center and Sonny Werblin Recreation Center (premier athletic facility).
