Achievement in Math and Science (AIMS) Multi-Campus Program
What is the AIMS Multi-Campus Program?
Achievement in Math and Science (AIMS) is a learning community for SAS and SEBS first-year residential students considering studies in science, math or technology. Students in this program will enjoy the benefits of sharing common academic experiences, making new friends, exploring common interests and being a part of a community of peers. This learning community allows residential SAS/SEBS students to participate in academic enrichment activities and become part of an academic community. Students will benefit from special meetings, trips and events with faculty, alumni, and upper class students who will share information about scientific innovation that will profoundly affect our lives.
Shared Courses
In addition to other courses that you will take in your first semester, you will be automatically enrolled in three common courses with other members of the AIMS program in your first semester:
(1) FIGS: Exploring Careers in Science (1 credit)
(2) Precalculus College Mathematics or Intermediate Algebra (depending on placement test results)
(3) Expository Writing (3 credits)
In the second semester of the first year, students will have the option to co-register for specific courses with fellow students in the AIMS community.

- Organized peer study groups and mentoring program
- Special field trips with classmates
- First-year Interest Group Seminar (FIGS) taught by a peer instructor who will introduce new students to special university resources related to their potential major and career
- Reduced bus travel because most classes are scheduled on students' home campus
- Workshops/seminars with faculty to discuss ideas and career options
- Enhancement academic support opportunities and special advising sessions
The AIMS Commitment
Members of the AIMS community will be expected to:
- Enroll in all three shared courses (See above for listing of the courses)
- Participate in community activities and events
- Support the academic success of community members
